"We expect the workers would resume work within 48 hours. We hope they will respect the local court's order to withdraw strike," Mahindra & Mahindra Executive Director Arun Nanda told PTI on the sidelines of a function here.
The Nashik Industrial Court has declared the strike by the auto major's workmen at the plant in North Maharashtra city as illegal and unjustified. The court has also directed the workers to withdraw their agitation within 48 hours.
The "tool down" agitation by the workers entered its 11th day today with the union demanding that the suspension of its leader Madhav Dhatrak be revoked. Dhatrak was suspended last week on disciplinary grounds.
Asked what action will be taken if the workers, who had threatened to move the Bombay High Court against the Nashik court order, did not resume work, Nanda said, "we expect the workers will respect the Court order and report for their work in their respective shifts at the earliest." Production at the company's Nashik facility, which has a capacity of 1,50,000 units per annum, has been affected due to the strike.
