Sena protests price hikes; blocks roads and trains in Maharashtra, in Nashik city
|
Protesting against shortage of fertilisers, and rising prices of essential commodities and petroleum products, Sena’s Nashik unit blocked the Mumbai-Agra national highway, police said. The Sena’s deputy leader Ravindra Mirlekar, city mayor Vinayak Pande and local leaders gathered at Adgaon point and sat on the road this morning, shouting slogans against the central and state governments. They also warned strong agitation if the government failed to provide adequate fertilisers to the farmers, police said. Around 100 Sena activists have been rounded up by the police. Here too, the traffic remained disrupted for a couple of hours. Similar agitation was also staged in other places in the district. |
