Nashik district needs more rains for agriculture

The Nashik district and Nashik city needs more rains to carry out agricultural activities though some of its parts including Nashik city are experiencing good rains since Sunday night, said a release issued by collector office. Till July 1, Igatpuri tehsil recorded 98 mm of rains, followed by Trimbakeshwar 52 mm, Nashik 44 mm, Peint 42 mm, Niphad and Dindori 31 mm as per official sources. Kalvan and Devla tehsils recorded only 1.00 mm of rain, followed by Yeola 9.2 mm, Surgana 10.00 mm and Sinnar 14.2 mm. While Malegaon, Baglan and Nandgaon tehsils have not experienced any rains till july 1, they added. Darna and Gangapur dams having capacity of 7149 and 5630 mcft presently have a water stock of 863 and 787 mcft respectively. Good rains can only raise the level of these dams which are main sources of water here, said the sources.
